- FOR OUR FRIENDS IN THE OTTUMWA/FAIRFIELD, IOWA AND LOCAL AREA: LET THE BUYER BEWARE! THINK TWICE ABOUT GETTING YOUR CAR REPAIRED AT CLEMONS AUTO DEALERSHIP. We recently had two major car repairs done at this company totaling $3,000. The first repair was for transmission work. Our original transmission on our 89 Dodge Caravan began to slip. Clemons determined we needed a new transmission. The new transmission began to have the same failures as our old transmission from the day we drove it off their lot. We brought it back several times to correct the continuing problem but the dealer could not figure out the problem. Another dealer determined there was nothing wrong with the transmission but with the transmission control module. They used the Chrysler Service Bulletin to analyze the problem. This corrected the situation. They used a $300 part vs. a $2000 transmission. Obviously, our original transmission was just fine and didn't need replacing. The second major repair was for an oil leak. They replaced the valve cover gaskets. We soon had a major oil leak 50 miles from home. The same dealer who corrected the transmission problem, looked at the repairs done by Clemons for the oil leak. They determined the gaskets were improperly installed. We had to pay for all the same repairs again. Clemons' management refused to admit any fault in these repairs and refuses to give us our money back. Therefore, the best advice we can give our friends in the Ottumwa/Fairfield area is think twice before you decide where to have your car fixed. It's your hard earned money...don't waste it!
